Competence Levels
A competence level is the role someone holds on an audit β "Lead Auditor", "Auditor", "Technical Expert", "Observer". The same list serves two purposes: it is what an auditor's qualifications are expressed in, and it is what each member of an audit team is assigned as.
The recordβ
- Code and name.
- Degree β rank, ascending. The higher the number, the more the level covers.
- May answer β whether somebody serving under this role may enter answers on the checklist.
Degreeβ
Degree is a plain number, and the whole of what the role check reads.
A person qualified at a given degree may serve on an audit in any role at or below it. Someone qualified as a lead auditor can attend as an auditor; the reverse does not hold.
Degree carries no uniqueness rule. Two levels given the same number simply rank together, which is the right answer where an organization has two names for roles of equal standing.
May answerβ
An observer and a technical expert attend the audit and see everything, but do not fill the checklist in. Turning this off for such a level is what keeps the audit's answers attributable to the people actually assessing against the criteria.
